MAGICAL NEW YEAR PROGRAM IN THE DESERT - THREE DAYS ADVENTURE IN TUNISIA

Day 1, December 30:

Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation for a departure at 7:30 AM towards the oasis town of Douz.

On the way, you will stop to visit Matmata, famous for its troglodyte houses.

After this visit, you will continue to Douz where you will have lunch at a restaurant.

After lunch, the grand erg oriental will appear before your eyes.

You will depart in a 4x4, taking the tracks and dunes towards the Tembaine mountain.

This is where the southernmost camp in the Tunisian desert is located.

You will settle into your private tent and have free time to enjoy the dunes and the breathtaking landscape.

Dinner will be served at the camp's restaurant and you will spend the night in your private tent.

Day 2, December 31:

On the second day, you will leave Tembaine and take the track towards the oasis of Ksar Ghilane.

You will see nothing but tracks, dunes, and desert – just desert.

Upon arrival at the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, you will have lunch at a restaurant at the foot of the dunes.

After lunch, you will have the opportunity to visit the oasis and swim in the 32-degree hot spring (optional).

If you wish, you can also opt for a quad ride and/or a camel ride.

Optional: Camel ride 1h/15€ - Quad ride 1h/30€

Depart in a 4x4 towards the comfortable Saharan camp via the track (20 km) for a sunset view and a demonstration of bread baking in the sand.

New Year's Eve: Festive dinner at the Saharan restaurant, with entertainment, and overnight in a private tent in the desert.

Day 3, January 1:

After breakfast and a relaxing moment in the desert, you will prepare to visit Chenini.

You will take the track and visit Ksar Ouled Soltane, an ancient fortified granary.

Then, you will head to Guermassa for lunch.

After lunch, you will visit Ksar El Ferech, another historical site in the region.

Return and drop-off at your accommodation in the late afternoon.

New Year's Eve Program:

Tunisian alcohol, soft drinks, and appetizers around the campfire.

Entertainment:

Performances by a folkloric group and a camel fantasia.
Dinner in the Restaurant with Entertainment:
Folkloric group and DJ.

New Year's Eve Menu:

Lamb Gargoulette: Lamb cooked with vegetables in a sealed jar.

The tour is done in 4X4.

Our vehicles can be equipped with baby seats on request.

This tour is not open to people with reduced mobility.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MAGICAL NEW YEAR IN THE DESERT

Day 1: December 30

We will pick you up at 7:30 AM from your accommodation and then you will head towards the desert in Douz.

During your journey, you will admire the beautiful semi-desert landscapes of the Berber region. Stops will be made upon request to take photos of the magnificent scenery and for breaks as needed.

You will continue to Douz where you will have lunch at a restaurant.

After lunch, you will depart in a 4x4, taking the tracks and dunes towards the Tembaine mountain. This is where the southernmost camp in the Tunisian desert is located.

You will settle into your private tent and have free time to admire the surrounding landscape. Dinner will be served at the camp's restaurant and you will spend the night in your private tent.

Day 2: December 31

On the second day, you will leave Tembaine and take the track towards the oasis of Ksar Ghilane. You will see nothing but sand dunes; this is one of the most unforgettable parts of the journey, giving you the feeling of being in the Paris-Dakar rally.

At Ksar Ghilane, you will have lunch at a restaurant at the foot of the dunes.

You will have the opportunity to engage in activities:

A camel ride for €15/hour
A quad tour to the ancient Roman fort of Tisavar for €30/hour

These activities can be paid for directly on site.

Then, you will depart by 4x4 towards the comfortable Saharan camp, located 20 km south. You can watch the sunset and see a demonstration of bread baking in the sand.

The New Year's Eve celebration will be festive, with a special dinner and entertainment for the occasion.

In the evening, you can enjoy an open bar aperitif around the campfire, with Tunisian drinks, non-alcoholic beverages, and appetizers. Entertainment is planned, including a folkloric group and a camel fantasia.

The New Year's Eve dinner will be served in the restaurant with additional entertainment:

A folkloric group and a DJ to set the mood.

The meal will include a variety of dishes, such as:

Appetizers (kemia)
Seafood soup
Salad plates
Lamb gargoulette
Seasonal fruit salad
Tunisian pastries and mint tea

You will also have access to the bar, with unlimited red, rosé, or white wine, water, and sodas.

At midnight, a traditional champagne toast will be served to celebrate the New Year.

You will spend the first night of the New Year in your private tent, continuing to enjoy the desert atmosphere.

Day 3: January 1

The next day, after a quiet breakfast and some free time in the desert, you will depart for a guided tour of the Berber village of Chenini.

Then, you will have lunch at a restaurant in Guermassa, followed by a visit to Ksar El Ferech. On the way back, you will stop to visit Ksar Ouled Soltane.

After these three days of adventure, discovery, and the New Year's Eve in the Tunisian desert, you will be dropped off at your accommodation in the late afternoon.
