PROGRAM OF THE TOUR IN THE SOUTH OF TUNISIA OVER 3 DAYS BY 4X4 FROM ZARZIS
Day 1 – Mountain oases and the road to Tozeur

Pick-up at 6:30 AM from your accommodation and departure toward Tozeur.

Scenic drive across southern Tunisia with varied landscapes and occasional photo stops.

Lunch in a local restaurant upon arrival in Tozeur.

Afternoon exploration of the mountain oases: Chebika, Tamerza, and the majestic Mides canyon near the Algerian border.

Continue to the site of Ong Jmal (“The Camel’s Neck”) and visit Nefta, famous for its oasis and traditional architecture.

Return to Tozeur in the evening.

Dinner and overnight stay at the 4-star Ksar Rouge hotel (or similar), or in a local guesthouse. Accommodation based on double occupancy.
Day 2 – Desert landscapes: from Douz to Ksar Ghilane

Breakfast and departure for Chott El Jerid, Tunisia’s largest salt lake.

Stop at the Sidi Bouhlel canyon, a dramatic site featured in several films.

Continue south toward Douz, known as the “gateway to the Sahara.”

Visit the fossilized dunes and learn about traditional palm grove irrigation systems.

Lunch in Douz at a local restaurant.

Afternoon drive to the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, located at the edge of the sand dunes.

Free time to explore the oasis and enjoy an optional swim in the natural 32°C hot spring.

Optional activities (to be paid on-site):
– Camel ride: €15/hour
– Quad ride: €30/hour

Continue in a 4x4 along the off-road desert trail (20 km) to Zmela Saharan Camp.

Enjoy the sunset over the dunes and attend a traditional sand-baked bread demonstration.
Day 3 – Berber culture and troglodyte villages

Breakfast at the camp and free time to enjoy the peaceful desert surroundings.

Departure for Matmata via the scenic Berber village of Tamezret.

Lunch with a local family in Tamezret, featuring regional specialities.

Afternoon visit to a traditional troglodyte house and exploration of the region’s lunar landscapes.

Return trip and drop-off at your accommodation in the late afternoon.
