PRIVATE DESERT TOUR PROGRAM
DAY 1

07:30 AM – Pick-up from your hotel or the airport in Djerba

Drive towards Tataouine, with a photo stop at the salt lake Sebkhet el Melah

Visit the local market in Tataouine

Explore Ksar Ouled Soltane, a historic granary and filming location for Star Wars (25 km – 30 min)

Guided visit of the Berber village of Chenini (45 min) (40 km – 38 min)

Lunch in Guermassa, at a traditional local restaurant (25 km – 25 min)

Departure for the desert and oasis of Ksar Ghilane, surrounded by endless ochre dunes (140 km – approx. 2h10)

Free time at the oasis: swimming in the natural hot spring (32°C), relaxing under palm trees

Quad biking to the Roman fort of Tisavar (€30/hour)

DAY 2

Breakfast and time to relax among the dunes

Departure to Matmata via the Berber village of Tamezret (95 km – approx. 1h20)

Lunch with a local family in Tamezret – a moment of cultural exchange

Visit Matmata and explore a troglodyte home (12 km – 15 min)

Return to Djerba and drop-off at your hotel or the airport around 5:30 PM
Please note: all times are approximate and may vary depending on weather and season.
This tour offers an immersive experience into Berber culture, desert landscapes, and the magic of the Grand Erg Oriental.
Take away:
Concerning the equipment, you must include in a bag (this is better for sand):

A flashlight or headlamp, as well as towels (not provided at the Saharan camp).

For the evening, in winter, bring warm clothes as it can be very cold at this time of year.

If you are cold, for the camp we recommend sports tracksuits for sleeping and if you need to go out at night.

An amazing experience! A night under stars. Our guide Yosr and driver Anwar were bery patient and helpful throughout. On the way to Sahara we visited Tatouine, Matmata, Chenini. The food served was delicious. The only thing as we visited in December so the temperature in the desert was belo zero in the night. I would surely recommend this experience.
