Your journey will begin in Douz, you will enjoy the atmosphere of this Saharan city, every Thursday morning you can visit the livestock market you will be carried awayin a whirlwind of colors, sounds and enchanting scents.

Your adventure will take on a Lawrence of Arabia feel with a one-hour camel ride across rolling sand dunes for an unforgettable Saharan experience.

After a delicious lunch at the restaurant featuring local specialties, you will head for Matmata, the city of troglodyte dwellings.

You will visit the troglodyte houses, underground dwellings dug into the earth, the troglodyte hotel of Sidi Idriss also served as a setting for the Star Wars saga.

This day trip to Douz and Matmata promises you a day of discovery and wonder.

PROGRAM OF THE JOURNEY TO DOUZ AND MATMATA

Pick-up at 6:00 a.m. in Djerba in front of your place of stay at Djerba and departure to Douz.

Arrival at Douz around 10 a.m.

Coffee break and free time in the souk (the livestock market is on Thursday).

Immersion in the desert with a camel ride of approximately one hour.

Lunch at the restaurant.

Departure to Matmata and visit the troglodyte houses. (Douz > Matmata 65 km, 1h10 drive).

Visit the Sidi Idriss hotel, the Lars farm, Star Wars, Mos Espa episode 1.

Return and drop-off in front of your place of stay in Djerba.

Transportation is either by 4x4 or minibus depending on the number of participants.

Our vehicles can be equipped with baby seats on request.

This day tour is not open to people with reduced mobility.

For private day trips, reductions for children under 11 only apply to groups of 4 or more paying adults.
