Departing from Tunis, this two-day journey takes you deep into the heart of southern Tunisia to explore Berber villages and fortified granaries known as ksour.

An optional transfer from Tunis to Djerba (by flight or private car) makes this adventure accessible and flexible for travelers eager to dive into Tunisia’s cultural and architectural roots.

With a knowledgeable guide, you’ll discover ancient villages, walk through stone citadels perched on rocky ridges, and experience life in traditional settings. A truly enriching and off-the-beaten-path experience.

TRIP PROGRAM FROM TUNIS TWO DAYS IN THE BERBER REGION OF TATAOUINE

Day 1

07:00 AM: Departure from Tunis airport, flight to Djerba (available on request).
08:00 AM: Arrival at Djerba Zarzis airport, pick-up.
Departure to Matmata (120 km - 2h20 drive).
Photo stops and coffee break en route.
Visit the troglodyte houses of Matmata.
Visit the Berber Museum of Tamezret (12 km, 15-minute drive).
Lunch with a local family in Tamezret.
Visit the village of Toujane (40 km, 45-minute drive).
Visit Ksar Hallouf (35 km, 45-minute drive).
Visit Ksar Hadada (35 km, 40-minute drive).
Dinner and overnight stay at the troglodyte hotel in Ksar Hadada (Double Room).

Day 2

Breakfast and departure for Tataouine, free time in the city, and visit the market (30 km, 35-minute drive).
Visit Ksar Ouled Soltane (25 km, 29-minute drive).
45-minute guided visit of the Berber village of Chenini (40 km, 38-minute drive).
Lunch at a typical restaurant in the village of Guermassa (25 km, 23-minute drive).
Visit the citadel of Guermassa, duration 1h20.
Return to Djerba and drop-off at the airport in the late afternoon around 6:00 PM.
08:15 PM: Return flight to Tunis (available on request).
09:15 PM: Arrival in Tunis.

This excursion will offer you an immersive experience in the culture and history of Tunisian Berbers, allowing you to discover unique sites and the beautiful landscapes of the Tataouine region.

Transportation is either by 4x4 or minibus depending on the number of participants.

Our vehicles can be equipped with baby seats on request.

This tour is not open to people with reduced mobility.
