Berber Ksour & Villages – 2 Days from Zarzis

EXPLORE THE MOUNTAINS AND BERBER HERITAGE OF TATAOUINE

Set off from Zarzis for a two-day journey into the mountains and hidden villages of southern Tunisia.

This immersive cultural tour takes you to the heart of Berber heritage, where you’ll discover ancient ksour perched on rocky cliffs and troglodyte homes built into the hillsides.

Highlights include stops at famous fortified granaries like Ksar Hadada and Ouled Soltane, guided walks through Douiret and Chenini, and a peaceful overnight stay in a traditional Berber guesthouse.

It’s an ideal mix of history, local encounters, and breathtaking landscapes.

PROGRAM OF THE TWO- DAY TRIP IN THE BERBÈRE REGION OF TATAOUINE

Day 1

07:30 AM: Pick-up from your place of stay.
Departure to Matmata.
Photo stops and coffee break.
Visit the troglodyte houses of Matmata.
Visit the Berber Museum of Tamezret (12 km, 15-minute drive).
Lunch with a local family in Tamezret.
Visit the village of Toujane (40 km, 45-minute drive).
Visit Ksar Hallouf (35 km, 45-minute drive).
Visit Ksar Hadada (35 km, 40-minute drive).
Dinner and overnight stay at the troglodyte hotel in Ksar Hadada (Double Room).

Day 2

Breakfast and departure for Tataouine, free time in the city and visit the market (30 km, 35-minute drive).
Visit Ksar Ouled Soltane (25 km, 29-minute drive).
45-minute guided visit of the Berber village of Chenini (40 km, 38-minute drive).
Lunch at a typical restaurant in the village of Guermassa (25 km, 23-minute drive).
Visit the citadel of Guermassa, duration 1h20.
Return to your place of stay in the late afternoon around 5:30 PM.

This excursion will offer you an immersive experience in Berber culture and history, allowing you to discover unique sites and the beautiful landscapes of the region.

Transportation is either by 4x4 or minibus depending on the number of participants.

Our vehicles can be equipped with baby seats on request.

This excursion is not open to people with reduced mobility.
